Evolution Beyond Self

The speculations of a philosopher are far removed from the judgment of the multitude, for his aim is to seek truth in all things.

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543 CE) preface to The Revolution of the Heavenly Spheres

From the rear cover:

Life is an odyssey on which we involuntarily found ourselves a member prior to our new and untainted minds comprehending a sense of self. Proof of joining sentient life as a newborn bioform came from the humans known as parents. With teachers, preachers, and others trusted with our survival, they offered essential maps, itineraries, and expected behaviors of our travels, instilling awareness of good, evil, truth, falsehood, reality, and myth. We believed their knowledge to be flawless. We questioned nothing.

Yet, ageless fears about our journey grew, revealing sacred closets designed to preserve convenient existence, with little respectful vision of life’s primal harmony. What is life, and how do we fit? By what reality do we guide our wanderings? Can we all happily coexist? How do humans understand their corporeal demise? Is God real? Will living in the present moment be the key to our enlightenment? Is freedom from self possible, or is the effort futile?

Naturalist and philosopher Steve Greene, inspired by reality and truth, rather than ritual and tradition, offers stimulating insight on numerous aspects of our communal, yet frequently self centered, journey. Steve’s candid and provocative assessments are vital tools for self evaluation, awareness, and evolution, which ultimately unveil the path to inner freedom, peace, and transcendence of self.

A life full of self is a world empty of love.

Milky Way

Our Milky Way galaxy is but one of billions in the vast undiscovered cosmos. Humans, and the tiny solar system of which Earth is part, are only a minuscule component. The absolute reality of life is not centered around the human self. This is an infrared photograph from the Spitzer space telescope, from within the galaxy, stripped of any human superstitions, mythologies, and supernatural belief models.
